Now USDA certified and members of the Feline Conservation Federation Kickapoo Bobcat and Lynx is on it's way to becoming a Model Exotic Feline Facility. As part of our dedication to the highest quality of life for our cats, we keep a variety of other animals around to keep the cats stimulated. Our farm currently contains Peacocks, Pheasants, Chickens, Ducks, Rabbits, Goats, Sheep, a miniature donkey, a beagle and 3 wolf hybreds.
Kickapoo Bobcat & Lynx is located in Readstown WI the heart of the Kickapoo River valley. Our goal is to nurture, raise and provide happy healthy bobcat and lynx kittens and hand raised breeder cats. Here in Wisconsin we are not allowed to cohabitate with our cats. So we try to compensate by making our cats homes habitats not just cages. Daily interaction and handling are top priority around here. If you are lucky enough to live in a state which does not ban cohabitation, interaction is much easier. We do however recommend a covered outdoor habitat even if your laws don't require it. Bobcats and Lynx do love to climb, scratch, roll on the dust and all the other things cats like to do. Most cats feel
that it is THEIR place and they love to watch what is going on. All of our breeding age cats were born on USDA licensed facilities. Our young cats were all born here and hand reared. We maintain a small group of cats. They have been handpicked for temperament, size, color, vigor and personality. And they do have personality!
Our 2 Bobcat toms Mr. Lovey and Montana are North West bobcats. They weigh 35 and 40 pounds and are among the biggest of the bobcats. They also have a beautiful blue grey in their coats and wonderful white spotted bellies.
Our bobcat queens are Lizzy, Dakota and Sioux-z. Lizzy comes from Minnesota and is heavily spotted. Dakota and Sioux-z are North Dakota girls and have beautiful silver running through their coats. Babies are brought in and bottle fed from 17 days old. Younger if need be. This gives them time to accept humans as their new Mama. Most kittens take to the bottle very easily and after a few days respond to the sound of our voices. By the time they are 6 weeks or so old they are ready to go to their new homes. This gives the new owner 2 to 4 weeks of bottle time before weaning which is very important in the bonding process. We have raised several kits to adulthood now and can't believe how affectionate, intelligent and entertaining they can be.
BE AWARE!
Bobcats and Lynx can live 20 years and more. Once bonded closely with an owner they have a very, very difficult time adjusting to a new home and owner. Please consider carefully your decision to get a Bobcat or Lynx.
Also Please be sure you have a knowledgeable willing person you cat knows well to fill in for emergencies or vacations etc. It's a lot to think about, but is also one of the best experiences you'll ever have with a cat!
